about exhibition

The exhibition brings together paintings from the past decade in which Smadar Eliasaf creates a vibrant, abstract world shaped by movement, rhythm, and material process. Her canvases come into direct contact with the studio floor, whose accumulated layers of paint function as both a printing plate and an archive of previous actions. This process introduces an ongoing tension between intention and chance, as paint, surface, and canvas leave marks that cannot be fully controlled. The resulting works resist representation and narrative, emerging instead through material, gesture, and the traces of their own making.
