Guillermo Mena, Ana Vala, Carla Angili: Reading Room – 5th Anniversary

Three Fridays, three artists, one reading a week – September 18th, September 25th and October 2nd – with Guillermo Mena, Ana Vala and Carla Angili, curated by Tsering Frykman-Glen.
The Reading Room is an ongoing collaborative project that brings together creatives and audiences to be part of a mutual, collective experience. Over five years it has evolved and travelled – from Tangent Projects to nūn in Barcelona, Fire Station Artist Studios in Dublin, Espacio La Pileta in Buenos Aires (in collaboration with PAR Residencies), back to Barcelona at Afterschool Dept, and most recently the National Sculpture Factory in collaboration with The Guesthouse in Cork, Ireland.
We are delighted to bring it home to Tangent Projects for this special anniversary edition.
Week 1 – Guillermo Mena, Friday September 18th from 19h – Guillermo Mena is a visual artist from Córdoba, Argentina, working across visual arts, animation and film. His practice explores how images, stories and codes are transmitted and ultimately transformed. This will be Guillermo’s third Reading Room with Tsering, following collaborations in Buenos Aires and Cork earlier this year. We are excited to welcome him to Tangent Projects for this edition.
Week 2 – Ana Vala, Friday September 25th from 19h – Ana Vala is a Portuguese artist and curator whose practice spans visual arts, moving image, design and research. Drawing on anthropology and archaeology, her work explores everyday spaces, utilitarian objects and the relationships and meanings that emerge between them. A former Cotangent resident, and Reading Room artist (2023), we are excited to welcome Ana back to Tangent Projects for another reading.
Week 3 – Carla Angili, Friday October 2nd from 19h – Carla Angili is a multidisciplinary designer working with performance art, video projection, and speculative gastronomy. Raised in the USA by Mexican immigrant parents, Carla earned her Bachelor’s at California College of the Arts in San Francisco before completing her Master’s at BAU Design College of Barcelona. Through a blend of speculative narrative, sensory installations, and pop up culinary environments, her practice explores personal identity and memory to question our perception of everyday reality. Carla was a studio artist at Tangent Projects in 2025, we look forward to her rejoining us for her event.
