Fractal – The Whole in Every Part: THIS IS NOT A WHITE CUBE celebrates 10 years, turning a decade of encounters into an exhibition

Ten years after its founding, THIS IS NOT A WHITE CUBE celebrates a decade of activity with “Fractal: The Whole in Every Part”, an exhibition reflecting on the gallery’s trajectory through research, relationships, and the circulation of knowledge across artists, geographies, and contexts.

Rather than presenting its history chronologically, the exhibition identifies recurring patterns, concerns, and relationships throughout the gallery’s programme. The exhibition concept draws on the fractal as a structure in which the same underlying logic reappears at different scales, producing singular configurations and a recognisable identity beyond any particular aesthetic, geography, or artistic language.

The gallery activates its network, inviting artists, curators, collectors, thinkers, and partners to identify practices they consider urgent, relevant, or necessary today. The fundamental unit of the fractal is the encounter: the network activates and nourishes curatorial inquiry, revealing how artworks, ideas, and practices circulate, are discovered, and enter into dialogue.

Revising the white cube’s promise of neutrality, the project conceives the gallery as a polycentric and permeable configuration, where different points generate relationships, knowledge, and alternative centres.
