On Friday, February 14, starting at 7:00 PM, Vangar inaugurates the first solo exhibition of Andalusian artist Víctor González: Cabeza de río. The exhibition will be open to the public from February 14 to April 30, 2025. The artist was recently selected as a finalist for the prestigious 2024 BMW Painting Award.

Víctor González (Jerez de la Frontera, 1996) explores pictorial representation codes from an intuitive and emotional perspective, reinterpreting cultural elements from his surroundings. Architecture, ornaments, and everyday objects become key pieces of a visual language that reveals biogeometric landscapes and atmospheres. His compositions actively engage the viewer, constructing images that oscillate between the tangible and the dreamlike.

In his exhibition Cabeza de río, Víctor González establishes a dialogue between the various aspects of his creative process, unraveling the narrative and emotional potential of painting. The artist captures different constructive and conceptual phases recurrent in the development of his works, juxtaposing diverse pieces such as large-format paintings, collages, and works with sculptural-like treatments. The piece Limbo serves as the focal point of the exhibition, working as an entry point to understanding the show’s body of work. Through its internal structure and placement in the space, Limbo invites the viewer to step inside, connecting with the exhibition’s central theme: painting as a flow of thought.

The artist’s work transcends traditional painting, approaching pictorial language through alternative techniques and materials. This experimental approach seeks to expose painting’s internal language, blending figurative and abstract elements in a dialogue that provokes and challenges the medium’s boundaries. His works propose assembled spaces that explore the relationship between form, color, and sensation, blurring the lines between what is real and imagined.

Graduated in Fine Arts at the Universidad de Sevilla, Víctor has developed his career in Spain, Italy, and the United Kingdom. He was recently selected as a finalist for the 2024 BMW Painting Award, and his work has been exhibited at institutions such as the Royal Academy in London and the Centro Cultural Fundación Unicaja de Sevilla. His work has been recognized with grants and awards such as the VIII Certamen UNIA de Pintura, an Honorable Mention at the I Premio de Creación Artística of CICUS, the Diputación de Sevilla, and the artist residency at the Fundación Antonio Gala. He has also been selected for the XIV Encontró de Artistas Novos of the Xunta de Galicia and the Fundación Cidade da Cultura.

The exhibition will be on view at Pedro III el Grande 22 (Valencia, Spain) from February 14 to April 30, 2025. Visiting hours will be Tuesday to Friday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
